"Hanging from a bag"

"Hanging from a bag" is a sound installation that installs 6 cooking pots with 6 sound transducers. Each transducer reproduces a frequency of 40Hz, for those transducers it is an inaudible sound. Then, given the vibration of the transducers, they move, generating constant but irregular blows to the pots. The amplitude of each transducer and therefore the magnitude of the sound environment created depends on the data curve of the Santiago Stock Exchange. Specifically I take the fluctuation of water, gas, electricity, copper and IGPA (General Index of Stock Prices , measures the price variations of the shares registered in the Santiago Stock Exchange). These data correspond to the fluctuation between October 18, 2019 (Start of the revolt in Chile) until May 16, 2020, (the day that Chile wakes up in quarantine due to the covid) and is compressed into one hour of sound information. This piece tries to generate symbolic relationships between the social manifestation and the economic model that Chile has developed in more than 30 years. The question arises that in market speculation, a representation of its exacerbation, the sound of cooking pots are heard louder, the action is magnified and energetically violated. In some way too, the piece in its noise seeks silence and seeks calm.
