Ocean

Ocean is an exploration of the underwater sound environment, a performative action on a ship, a set of radio transmissions via streaming, an archive, recording and publication of the soundscape under the sea, an ephemeral and mobile pirate radio, a journey through the sea of Chiloé. For a week, the artisanal barge Quento was used as a home and laboratory for the capture and live transmission of the marine and underwater soundscape of the Chiloé archipelago (Aliao, Apiao, Chelin, Chulin, Mechuque, Butechauque islands). With daily and nightly broadcasts, soundscapes of the sea, birds, machinery and boats, salmon factories, underwater crustaceans, human and animal activities, sunset and also conversations, interviews with island inhabitants and concerts by traditional music for accordion and guitar. Ocean is a project created and carried out with Fernando Godoy, and with Carlos Lertora in audiovisual production.
