In Redtopia you can see words, which interacting directly with social media. By means of a “sweep” of Twitter and Tumblr for the word “education”, which in place identified an image on the map. The work attempt to generate a kind of friction between human action and virtual ideas; between social and urban movements and social networks. These projects attempted to metaphorically portray the place that the individual occupies within the plot of the economic and political webs that reach us form a dimension that seems virtual, “immaterial”, but is finally embodied by people and objects, affecting us in a objective and subjective level. In reality, the notion of virtuality as an illusory space vanishes when we see how our own existence is defined and deployed form “virtual” platforms; from dependence on public and private computer media -news, email, social media-; in digital business transactions; to the management of our own identity controlled by state bureaucracy and the networked systems that store all of our movements through corporations.
